I generally feel safe & relaxed thinking about perusing the #fediverse.
Thats basically new.
Even irc had its toxicity* and yeah nothings perfect here at all, but the ability to curate cannot be understated.
(hell even ICQ and AIM I ran the risk of a belligerent ex reaching out and fucking my world up)
