In the run-up to the US election I told people that if Harris lost we would likely see Democrats abandon trans people. I believe it's very likely we're going to see that play out in full force in the next couple weeks. House Republicans will be moving forward on a "sports" bill that will define gender as a person's AGAB; while this bill wouldn't explicitly apply that definition outside of an extremely broad concept of sports (like so broad it's already a huge deal), the implications of that language getting into federal law is obviously very bad and gives a lot of opportunities for Republicans to push further. I expect it to pass the House on a party line vote, but I suspect it may also pass the Senate with support from some Democrats.
