Fans of Orwell’s opposition to totalitarianism seem passionate about being allowed to be fucking rude to trans people but have no problem with governments breaking up protests, banning books or criminalising wearing medical masks.
It’s almost like “Orwellian” has come to mean “something I personally don’t like.”
