Hot take on the Wordpress problem: control of centralized plugin infrastructure is the real problem. If it were just the trademark and/or Matt, we’d have a fork and an LF foundation on Monday and everyone would go on their merry way.
But there’s a piece of important, rivalrous infrastructure involved and that breaks a lot of the implicit license-derived governance.
