Screenshot of the iPodder approach to discovery. The Directory tab was backed by a list of OPML urls. These were remote-edited by their respective owners, and pulled on demand when the user expanded the node. On expanding a node, users would see a list of podcasts they could subscribe to. Also, users could add or remove directory roots as they wished.
