My instance requires a reason to join. Most of the reasons I receive are perfectly fine even if left vague. I'm asking a reason for joining for a couple of reasons:

1. I do not wish the uncontrollable growth of the server
2. I'm curious to know who the users are
3. Control. Makes the moderation much easier.
4. Lately: Spam accounts.

However, reasons like "A decentralized social media user" or "I am mastodon's user" or "I want to join" are not enough, especially if your email address is wonky. This is like joining without a reason. I will ask more elaboration on that. If no reply, you will get rejected.

Please, tell me who you are and why do you want to join. "I'm Roni from Finland and Mastodon is interesting" is perfectly fine. It needs to be something I can grasp of.
