That's a rather constrained view of the issue.

You could do that, but, that kind of redundancy is usually not needed. Having a few friendly relays mirror notes is sufficient since the protocol can find notes sufficiently well for us to have this conversation or to pull together a book as complex as The Bible in real time for the reader.

You can always host your own relays, but then you are incurring real costs in hardware, power, internet connectivity, VPNs, etc. Someone has to pay, and it is better to know what the costs are up front, which is the major failure of the current "social" nostr v.1 side of things.
