We were discussing this in the staff room the other day. My colleagues were shocked when I told them that the Canadian military always knew that our biggest threat was south of the border. I heard this in the 80s-90s. This is one reason why they have objected to all the cuts to the defense budget in the past few decades. All it would take is for one president to give it a shot.
