Interestingly, if Facebook didn’t already have so many users, what Meta is doing would be an interesting proof of concept for launching a social network. Getting users and network effects is hard. Saturating a network to a magic number with bots, then replacing them with users as they join seems like an effective way to engage early adopters until new users arrive to replace the bots.
