It occurs to me that the first time Donald Trump registered in my consciousness was when I read something about him in “Spy” magazine - maybe in 1986? He was described by the perfect phrase “short-fingered vulgarian”.
It’s a source of astonishment and horror that this orange demon has ever had any place in my thoughts for so many years.
