Having had a childhood in a deeply conservative Christian household means I'm generally able to *fully understand and empathize with* the weirdest right-wing evangelical stuff if I read about enough of it to find the place where It starts to click in on those experiences.
But oh gods I am tired of playing catch-up with the sickening creep of justifying bottomless hates and fears, and attempts to render them as righteous. It's just not worth making the trip to figure it out anymore.
