TIL "variable frame rate [video]”. It's amazing any of this nonsense holds together. Also this reminds me of something my old boss used to say, which is that the whole concept of a frame is insane and we should really do away with it. A lot of problems in tech are like that: someone made a decision decades ago which made sense in context, but that context is long gone while the impact of the decision remains with us.
Don't get me started on NTSC/PAL…
