Got the 698s and cleaned/inked them today, they are indeed an upgrade over the 3008. Much closer to TWSBI 580 or Eco quality, but still not quite there. Miles ahead of the 3008 though. The material feels thicker, the piston action doesn't feel flimsy, the cap posts better and doesn't interfere with the piston mechanism lock, the section unscrews/comes off like the TWSBI 580, higher quality accents, etc. The 3008 had more internal color accents for demonstrators though.
