Yes - this is a weird gap but adding another relay does seem like a nightmare for the end user.
In theory, a filter user could add any popular relay as their public inbox as those notes will flow to filter.nostr.wine, but we wouldn’t want to read events directly from that relay to avoid things like reply spam.
