I've been part of 2 interventions. Both failed within 2 years, culminating in death.
I was asked to do a 3rd one and said no - but I did send a letter, which was read. That person continues to attend AA and sponsors others.
Folks like to treat things like "Oh I can handle it". "Oh, I don't do it much".
It isn't true. You play with addictive substances and you will be owned.
