You don't have to pay sats. You can do it yourself if you own a domain and website. Otherwise, there are plenty options for ID service providers.
I was the first mover in this space because I realized not everyone has the time or the means. They just want a human readable format for their public key.
Nostr Plebs has plenty of perks and we're always working on more.
