nah, selective deleting using time windows or etc isnt hard. for damus it probably got nuked because upgrading major versions (where a migration has to happen).
i was able to upgrade all nostr1 from 0.9 to 1.0, with no downtime. its not impossible, takes time and coordination. rm -rf is a lot easier yes.
