In support of the Yellow May 2025 campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of road safety, the Department of Highway Administration of the Federal District (DER-DF) promoted a training course for app-based motorcyclists. The action, coordinated by the Special Operations Management (Geope) and the Operational Motorcycle Patrol (Numop), took place on May 27 and 29, in partnership with the Association of Workers for App-based Motorists and Motorcyclists of the Federal District and Surrounding Areas (Atam DF/GO), and involved 20 drivers. The training was held at the Highway Administration Park and combined theoretical and practical lessons. Topics covered included defensive driving, traffic legislation, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe riding techniques. The training reinforces the theme of Yellow May this year - "Slow down, your life is worth more" - and integrates the government's efforts to reduce accidents and victims on the road. For Geiziele Ferreira, a motorbike delivery driver and motorcyclist since 2018, the experience was transformative: "My thought process on the road has completely changed. It's an essential course that leaves me feeling safer and more prepared for daily life." According to Atam DF/GO, among the 144 motorcyclists who participated in the six previous editions of the course, none have been involved in accidents to date - a fact that reinforces the importance of continuous training for those who operate on two wheels in urban roads. The Numop chief, Christian Alves, highlighted the relevance of the partnership and the positive impact of the initiative. "The union between public agencies and representative entities can strengthen road safety. Given the vulnerability of motorcyclists, actions like this make all the difference." The DER-DF aims to expand the course's reach and involve more professionals in future editions, contributing to a safer and more conscious road environment in the Federal District.
