Update: Somali migrant Mukhtar Shariff was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for his role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme in Minnesota where he helped misappropriate around $47 million from child nutrition programs during the pandemic to enrich himself and others in the Somali refugee community.
Somalia is a failed state where corruption and terrorism are endemic. Similar social phenomenon are documented in the communities they form after emigrating to Western countries.
