I only ever experienced two extremes.
Either maintenance is rarely consulted for problem solving, with a DIY mentality amongst staff.
Or we get called for everything, like dirty sensors.
The tank is destroyed, after rerouting everything around that thing and removing it from the process control system, my job is done.
