I prefer to say act from love rather than fear.
To me, love is embracing the ever expanding nature of this realm. To experience creation in all its diverse expression. To look for the creation found sprouting from the destruction.
I would argue that you derived benefit from the interaction with stranger. That enabled an expansion of your own consciousness.
