There are a lot of things about the Mac that irritate me, but how macOS makes accented characters available on a US keyboard is great

é is Option-E E
ò is Option-~ O
å is Option-A
ü is Option-U U
î is Option-I I
ç is Option-C
(there are other combinations, and any of the two key ones listed above can take a different secondary key)
