Chris Giles (FT) suggests if you want to gauge how #RishiSunak sees his chances in the forthcoming #election, you just need to watch the March budget & how any likely 'surplus' against prior forecasts is treated.
If he talks prudence & keep some of the surplus back, the he thinks he has a chance of getting back into No.10.
But, if the whole of (or more than) any available 'surplus' is deployed on tax cuts, then he has little hope & wants to make life difficult for the incoming administration!
