First, thanks for typing all that.
Quote "normal size ELF", if I have ~5K of C, it builds to say 300KB of binary. I linked to the postgres client.
If i have ~5K of Golang, with few imports (a small MVC lib), it comes up as >100MB.
Admittedly with debug symbols, but we where using µ servers, I haven't needed to check "RAM to load binary" previously. Corporate source
