I always tell people that if they experience sudden hearing loss they should do the best that they can to see an ENT and to do so quickly. Of course, several things could cause this and different treatment options are used, depending on the cause. However, if it's not caused by something like wax buildup resorting to steroids as quickly as possible can help to restore hearing. Once my ENT understood my situation he told me that if I encounter it again to call their office and insist that an emergency appointment be placed and to not accept responses such as "we have an opening in 30 days."
