- Mandarin phonetics
- simplified writing, instead of traditional characters
Essentially, a whole other "language" that she doesn't want to learn at her age.
Apparently there's Jyutping as a Pinyin-like IM for Cantonese, but doesn't seem available in GNOME keyboard input settings anyway
