While there is probably some truth to this, and probably more to the proposition that we are already engaged in “war”-like conflict along gender lines despite our sexual proclivities, it’s a field of discourse fraught with naught — few can bring sufficient nuance to offer any hope of productive discussion.
As with nearly any distinction we attempt to draw between differing human factors along any characteristics, the areas of overlap are nearly as great as those in exclusion or opposition.
This can be visualized as Venn diagrams, but it’s important to realize that such mappings are NOT the terrain.
Cynicism is easily taken for misanthropy. Some misanthropy is easily conflated with misogyny. Skepticism is easily viewed as cynicism.
That’s where I call for nuance.
