If one has ever wondered about the cost of implicit searches triggered by macros in Scala 2, I have some 'WHAT!?' data.
In one project, I found that the derivation of two of the same instances of a single typeclass takes 120+ seconds in compilation time. One hundred twenty-plus seconds. I will repeat. ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-PLUS FUCKING SECONDS. As library authors, please consider the prohibition of macro auto-derivation mode at all fucking costs! Thank you! Have a nice day.
