Sutskever gets $2B to develop closed-source superintelligence.

He seems like a good guy, but I'd hate to see the next big breakthrough in AI to be closed source.

I do agree with him (and LeCun) that scaling and optimizing transformer models is a path of diminishing returns.

I never thought I'd say this, but hopefully Meta / LeCun (or some other open-source reseachers) will win the race to develop the next big breakthrough in AI.
