Because the UAE does not have a concept of “surname” and “first name”, rather as my Government calls it “name series”, Thomas last name is Thomas de Heus en his first name is “—“. There’s a procedure if I wish to change this. However that takes time and I’d have to request another passport and pay another fee. This is peak Dutch bureaucracy.
