i hear the advice "to understand git, you just have to learn about its internals! just read Pro Git!" constantly and I'd really love stories of how/why that advice DOESN'T help you
there's something about that advice that really bothers me and I'm struggling to pin it down a bit
(if the "just learn the internals!" approach did help you that's great but I have already heard about that a lot and I don't need to hear more about that perspective right now)
