Reading about ethnic customs surviving in the US, I'm reminded that I'm a generalized Stockholmer whose ancestors came to the city from all over Sweden around 1900. They married someone from another random part of the country and left no regional identities to their children in my grandma's generation. Except for one thing, that survived until 25 years ago. The family goose dinner on St. Martin's day, brought to Stockholm from Österlen by my paternal grandma's dad.
