Worth remembering that at the forthcoming UK general election, MPs who lose their seats will receive very generous redundancy pay. If they have been an MP for five years, they get a gold plated pension and a lifetime pass to enter the houses of parliament (like a club). If they have been an MP for 20 years, they get a final salary index linked pension - all paid for by the taxpayers without their say-so.
