I don't like it either, but I see that as reality, and it's framing in this regard. You can't make people care, understand, or learn. Id argue nearly any product sold in the history of capitalism wasn't "dumbed down" until it was understood well enough to be sold. People don't care about the technology or the novelty, they care about how the tool solves _their_ problem, this goes for all of us.

I'd argue, in this case, the product doesn't lose any of it's value by changing the marketing to a distilled or "dumbed down" version, if it makes the sale. They're still getting the technology and it's benefits despite them not knowing how it works. I don't want to see people continue to suffer because they won't take the time to understand why bitcoin will benefit them, If I could find a way to sell bitcoin better, I would. I'm the only person I speak to regularly (in person) that willingly owns bitcoin.

Finally, to me, that's life in capitalism though (imo the natural economic order), you will always have to "change the marketing" to fit the customer to make the sale, if the goal is to make the sale. In almost all cases the user will likely be too stupid. If you are an expert, then by definition, everyone else that isn't an expert, is "too stupid" to understand your product. Were all "too stupid" in one area or another, we lack in every area we choose not to progress in because our time is limited. For example, I was something of a stone mason for a very brief period, I think everyone should know how to lay brick. It's a useful skill, to know how to build a structure from concrete that will save you time and money and so on, or make you money. The majority of people are "too stupid" to understand why learning how to lay brick will benefit them. It's unproductive for me to work against those who have chose not to prioritize these efforts. We probably agree financial future and personal responsibility are very high priorities, but not everyone does, in fact very few people do, at least in my world. I can't make them care, but I can use tools to persuade them to progress in that area, working with them not against them.

In the case of bitcoin, what do I have to lose by changing sats to something more user friendly, the term does nothing for me. The same could be said for dollars or whatever else.
