Finished my first pass of The MANIAC by Labatut and I highly recommend it if you liked Oppenheimer or are into science, math, or AI.
It’s technically fiction, but is based on fact and reads like nonfiction. Each chapter is from the perspective of someone who interacted with John von Neumann during his life and career.
The sheer volume of novel and varied work JvN completed in his short life is staggering. I couldn’t put this one down and definitely have some rereading in to do.
Shill me any book recs you have and let me know what you think if you’ve read this one!
