I thought hydrogen would be the future until I took a deeper dive into the tech.
The cost of current production is prohibitive. The most cost effective way is using wind/solar/wave, but the production infrastructure is woefully inadequate. The distribution network is also non-existant, as are refuelling options.
The big surprise is volume. Hydrogen is abundant but very light, so requires huge tanks. On trucks, trains & ships it's fine, but it doesn't work well with cars.
