I was recently introduced to eating what the Russians call salo (сало) which is salt-cured pork fat. The block that I'm eating is also smoked. It's intended to be eaten without being cooked. Absolutely delicious. I purchased it at a farmers market in Batumi, Georgia. Here's a photo of some slices from the block.
