The American version of Christianity- “me and my Bible under a tree” really only seems good at giving people a way to rationalize their own depravity, and at creating endless rootless denominations.
“You shall know them by their fruits” and all that. The fruit of Churchless Christianity seems to be apostasy.
I personally found it disgusting.
Edit: there is something particular about the US though.
It even corrupts what have been historically incorruptible. We orthodox have an EP who is an obvious western shill, the Greek church in the US is bent on destroying holy tradition chasing modern western sensibilities, and American Catholics are as far as I can tell the driving force behind their own embrace of degeneracy.
