The presidential debate was the perfect representation of the two dominant political consciousnesses on the planet right now. On the left you have a politics that has become utterly non-sensical, lacking any internal logical coherency, weak, soft, knee-jerk emotionality fueled by resentment; basically, people living in an internal fantasy world shaped by their own mental delusions. On the right you have self-righteous childlike reactionaries, boastful ideologues lacking all humility, fighting to save a past version of the world whose ship has sailed so that they can feel emotionally safe within their own narrowminded politcal nostalgia.
