Polymathic Pedagogue on Nostr: Sleep deprivation is one of the unhealthiest issues many educators face. It's not ...
Sleep deprivation is one of the unhealthiest issues many educators face. It's not just about the lack of exercise, cafeteria food, and limited sunlight, though each of those contribute as well.
Many teachers and support staff spend countless hours every week, often late into the night, early mornings, or even during school holidays, grading papers, creating lessons, catching up on the mountains of paperwork assigned by head office, or brainstorming how to differentiate lessons for their neurodivergent and special needs students.
Modern education shouldn't treat educators this way, but we're often given the ultimatum to work non-stop or quit.
Fellow educators, what tips can you share to help others in the profession to develop better habits and to overcome administrative demands on our time, energy, and attention? How can we, as profession, push for healthier boundaries and better work-life balance?
