My father's wartime service was in maintaining aircraft electronics. This photo was taken while he was training at Wigram about 1942. After that he was all over the South Pacific and ended up helping set up the fledgling weather service. He didn't get shot at much.
He's in the middle at the back, where they always put the tallest ones. I inherited the height so all my group photos (mostly from school) put me in the same place.
