For some perspective on my dad’s side I’m a first generation American, he was born in Italy. He can’t really go back home without being hated on bc they are basically socialists who are all still poor and bitter and despise him for becoming wealthy in the US. So while Americans without perspective would be like omg Italy I’m jealous! The reality is there aren’t really any opportunities there due to the gov and it’s not all glamor and leisure like the movies, ppl are jaded. One of his relatives drives a taxi for example, you think they get along? lol. And also they barely speak any English so they are cut out from the international economy where everyone is expected to speak English if they want to do business. Again it comes back to perspective. I am grateful he immigrated to the US. Thank God. Could I move there now? Sure, but that’s bc I had the opportunities to get educated and succeed here in the land of opportunities.
