Running your relay on a VPS **is** the way:
- no mumbo jumbo with port forwarding
- no security concerns about your local network
- no worries about power outages or Internet cutoffs
Sure there are more benefits and of course there are considerations, but a virtual server is a winner here unless you are a a brilliant security- and privacy-crazy cypherpunk.
