Shadowsponges were notorious gargantuan sponge-like creatures that inhabited the void of Wildspace. Owing to their porous nature that absorbed even air, they were sometimes captured and used for back-up air supply. Filling a shadowsponge with air was done by dragging it through a world's atmosphere.
