This morning, the House Republicans are trying to select a new Speaker candidate. They’re basically doing so with ranked choice voting, just in the least efficient way possible. At the start, there were 8 candidates; now down to 6. Current plan is that when they have one candidate who can get the majority of votes in private, they’ll go to the floor and see what happens in public. 24 days until the next government shutdown.
