Clips of Prof. Shalhoub-Kevorkian's interview were played in Channel 14, Israel's Fox News equivalent, which resulted in a public and vicious campaign to have Prof. Shalhoub-Kevorkian fired (or much worse). Instead of issuing a statement defending her academic freedom, President Cohen and Rector Sheafer issued a public letter suspending Shalhoub-Kevorkian and again pushing her to resign her post, since her values do not fit with a "proud Zionist institution" like Hebrew University. Her demand to "abolish Zionism" and her statement on sexual violence on October 7th were the stated reasons for her suspension. (They called these statements "incitement".)
