Kinda like cleaning your shower head the cruft just accumulates over time on the inside of the injector near the end, but usually it takes 100,000 miles (last part is 'in my opinion'). I think I saw that Scotty Kilmer on YT has a video on this but haven't watched it.
You can also replace them with new ones, which I've never done... on my gas cars.
How difficult are yours to remove?
