Yes. In more-speech following and blocking are easy, and are based on pubkeys and message ids. Each tab has a list of ids to select and a list of ids to block. If a tab selects a pubkey then any message by that person, or any message citing that person is included in the tab; unless it is specifically blocked. If a tab selects a message id, then any message rooted (using NIP-10) at the selected message is included in the tab, unless specifically blocked.
I keep a special tab named no-headlines that selects for everything but blocks most of the spam accounts like bestofhn and RobosatsOrderBook. This lets me see all the message written by people but keeps all (most of) the bots out.
