The EU has suspended talks on a new Partnership Agreement, the diaspora has firmly decided to stop sending remittance, the banks are emptying out, the internet shutdown cost #Bangladesh $10 billion, the foreign reserves are at an all time low, S & P downgraded the country’s credit rating & loan reimbursements are due. Those are just some of the economic challenges facing the country, all factors caused by bad governance. However, none of the destructive aspects of the war on Bangladeshis is stopping Hasina. The targeted assassinations of students, (where government agents are going house to house following the style of Nazi Germany hunting for students) is deliberate. It is a ploy to rid Bangladesh of a thinking, educated future generation. The less intellectually sound a population is, the easier it is to control & manipulate, even to invade. Let’s never lose sight of the fact that Sheikh Hasina does not act alone. She is fully backed by India & it’s no secret to anyone that the plan to “turn Bangladesh into another Sikkim or Kashmir” is a matter of deep concern for Bangladeshis. The students’ bravery was unexpected. The unity behind them from all over the world was unexpected. The struggle against this oppression is existential. Giving up is not an option. Giving up will mean losing independence totally.
