Here in the UK, I grew up at the time of Section 28, where even homosexuality was taboo for schools or media to mention in any non-negative light. I think the closest acceptable example I had was in the distinctly uninspiring and unenlightening panto dame figure. It was that bad! What I was truly feeling was simply beyond the pale in the eyes of everyone I knew or saw
But.. where I am now is breathing one huge sigh of relief. I got there. And I could so easily have not made it
